Who google themselves? I occasionally do-- just to see what pops up when others try to find me. To my surprise I found a remnant of the last version of my first, and long-standing attempt to maintain a homepage (a narcissist one)... way before Blogger, Wordpress, Friendster, Multiply, and Facebook. I can build a very basic html webpage from scratch. Someone has been willing to salvage whatever he can of the classic GeoCities. (See Reocities.com).
It's interesting to find out that the world wide web was at its early (commercial) stages when I found it, and was among the earliest settlers. I all too willingly embraced my netizenship. Come to think of it, I think I was the first one among my friends to ever own an email (needless to say, I was very happy with the prospect that I didn't have to wait for ages for the snail mail to arrive), and was constantly on the look-out for someone I can email. And, true to being a netsurfer, I also remember the joy of stumbling upon this awesome site called Yahoo! MTV.com must have been the coolest site then (for my generation, at least). And the prototype of social networking? A combination of Bolt.com, mIRC, ICQ, Yahoo! Photos, eCircles.
So, there's a bit of nostalgia-- techie version... for the teen of the 90's. The internet before Google & Facebook. Bow.
